The life sciences sector in Aberdeen
has a long track record of successful commercialisation
of cutting edge research. As a result, the support
infrastructure is well developed at all stages
of the licensing process from proof of concept
through fully realising the opportunities.
The city has three dedicated centres
involved in linking research with business-related
opportunities. Research & Innovation is the
commercial development arm of the University of
Aberdeen. At Robert Gordon University, the Commercialisation,
Research and European Development Office (CREDO)
leads the University’s drive to build links
between the academic and corporate sector. And
Rowett Research Services Ltd is the commercial
arm of the Rowett Institute. All three provide
a range of services designed to help researchers,
potential collaborators and investors exploit
the opportunities arising from life sciences research.
